Valencia hosted Tech Future, Orange's flagship technology innovation event, for the first time in March 2026. According to Orange's press release of 26 March, the day brought together executives from companies and public administrations to share real deployments rather than forecasts: cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, private 5G networks for critical infrastructure, new workplace environments and IoT.
Opening the event, Raúl Fernández, Orange's territorial director for Large Enterprises in the Levante region, described the company's shift towards an integrated technology services model. He also pointed to the weight of the region: the Valencian Community is Spain's fourth region by number of companies, with more than 352,000 active businesses and close to 11% of the country's business base.
The port runs on a private 5G network
Seven organisations presented their projects: the Port Authority of Valencia (APV), Fermax, Eiffage, Kyndryl, Movildata, Civitphone and WM Clinics.
The case that anchored the day came from the port. Javier Gallego, head of technology at the APV, and Joan Meseguer, senior project manager at the Fundación Valenciaport, described it as one of the most advanced technology transformation projects applied to critical infrastructure, backed by the Spanish ministry and by European institutions.
The APV built the whole project on a private 5G network, "giving absolute value to the security it provided and the super-automation capabilities it enabled", Meseguer said (translated from Spanish). On top of that network the port has stepped up surveillance with drone operations, enabled remote maintenance of its infrastructure, including augmented reality glasses for real-time technical assistance, and laid the groundwork for future uses such as autonomous vehicles moving inside the port area.
Cloud and AI in Valencian companies
Francisco Sánchez, CIO of Fermax, explained how the Valencian manufacturer, a leading name in video door entry systems in the Spanish market, moved to a high-availability public cloud to manage its connected video door entry units and give each user immediate support from their phone. The company described the new service as a significant change for its business.
Eiffage, which works permanently with critical infrastructure, focused on the challenge of covering sites spread around the world, especially on cybersecurity. Francisco Javier Cuenca, its head of Systems, Infrastructure and Security, called the cloud essential "to give much more agile responses to contain any kind of threat" (translated from Spanish).
The workplace as the new attack surface
Luis Aguilar, Digital Workplace Services Director at Kyndryl, spoke about the complexity of the digital workplace and the need to keep it secure without hurting the user experience. "Workspaces are becoming the gateway for cyberattacks, and that is where many companies start building their defences," he said (translated from Spanish).
IoT fleets, town halls and clinics
Luis Rodrigo, CEO of Movildata, showed how IoT is changing fleet management: optimising driving, controlling temperature when transporting food or medicines, locating vehicles in real time and improving the efficiency of urban vehicles such as street sweepers. "Today we can put a sensor on anything, which lets us measure any detail, like a driver looking at their phone or even drinking a coffee while driving," he said (translated from Spanish).
From the public sector, Jordi Gisbert, CEO of Civitphone, explained how AI has helped improve citizen services and make administrations more efficient, with tools that give access to the information from every call an institution such as a town hall receives.
In healthcare, where the data is highly sensitive, Francisco Castillo, Digital & Technology Director at WM Clinics, stressed the role of AI in managing clinical information and improving care as the group expands.
The day closed with networking and drinks. Orange presented the event as a sign that Valencia is a good place to drive projects that modernise companies and public administrations.
